Volunteers Pack First Set of Storm Emergency Supplies

A handful of volunteers packed 48 Hurricane Emergency Kits for low income over-55 Seniors Monday morning, July 12. Another batch of emergency kits will be put together before the end of July. Recipients identified by Senior Center staff, including Food Pantry users, were notified of their eligibility to pick up their kits at the Senior Center. A second distribution round will be made available to low income 55-plus local seniors on a future date to be announced.

The Gulfport Multipurpose Senior Center Foundation received a grant of $5,000 from Senior Services of the Pinellas Community Foundation to pay for the package of emergency supplies. Additional donations allowed the Foundation to add emergency foods.
