Veterans Day Commemoration Rededicated the Ribbon of Engraved Memorial Pavers at Veterans Park November 11, 2023
Phase Two of the Memorial Ribbon of Pavers has been installed, joining the phase one ribbon to the flagpoles in Veterans Memorial Park.
A small crowd came out to commemorate Veterans Day and join the Gulfport Senior Center Foundation in re-dedicating the ribbon of engraved memorial pavers at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday morning, November 11 at 9 am.
As the public arrived, the New Horizons Band played a selection of patriotic tunes.
Following a brief welcome message from the Gulfport Senior Center Foundation, the Boca Ciega High School JROTC Color Guard presented the colors, while New Horizons played US Military theme songs, followed by the National Anthem, with Laura Henderson singing.
Speakers included Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson and Vice Mayor Paul Ray, followed by an invocation and brief statement by Rev Kimberley Harrell, a US Marine veteran and spiritual leader of the New Thought CommUNITY of Gulfport.
The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence and Taps.
After the ceremony, attendees were invited to view the ribbon of engraved memorial pavers installed at Veterans Park by the Senior Center Foundation. With addition of phase two, space is available for the addition of more engraved pavers.
