Open Letter from Board Member Bev Newcomb
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am sure you are aware that plans for a new Gulfport Senior Center are underway.
It is an enormous project but with community support, federal and local grants, we will build our new Senior Center without encumbering the next generation, or increasing current taxes.
The Senior Center Foundation, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit, has set up a special building fund account. I would suggest donating through this account because the Foundation is an approved charity and your donation can be anonymous. Also, with your support the Foundation will have a named space in the new building.
There are several ways you can help. First, make a large donation – your definition of “large”. Second, participate in the many events planned for the next few years.
The good news is that we are almost half way to the goal of $13,000,000, but we need everyone’s help to reach the top and keep the City’s portion to a minimum.
Our Senior Center is outstanding. The activities are wide ranging and keeping up with the times. As the saying goes, “It’s not your Mama’s” Senior Center, although there is plenty for your Mama. We have more and more 50-year-olds.
Please do what you can, we are looking to break ground within a year.
Most sincerely,
Beverly Newcomb, Board Member
